Catching Up

Hey- so I haven't added many photos lately. We haven't been up to too much but what I do have a few pictures of are from pubs and random ones from a day off. This first photo are two of the results from the woodfire at Sturt. My piece is on the left and Owen's is on the right.

So we went down to Canberra to have a big Thanksgiving and afterwards went out to the pub with some of Owens mates. This is of Owen, Chris, Jemma, Mark, Mel, Tara and Matt.

On a day off Owen and I took the ferry to Watsons Bay. There are some fish and chip restaurants and a beer garden (where we ate) right when you get off the ferry. While waiting to go home we took a walk and I took some of my random photos because it has been a long time! This first one is a view from where we ate of the ferry drop off point and the city in the far background.
This one I love, it is of a glass bottle that has clearly been in the ocean for a long time as the green is growing off of the bottle.
This photo is of the swimming area, I thought the metal shark protecting poles looked nice with all that is growing on them.
Finally here is a picture of Owen and I waiting for the ferry to arrive to take us back to the city.

Finally, this past week we went to our uni for the graduating students show. The opening night was fun. This is a picture from the afterparty, taking a break from dancing; Leticia, Shinae, Cath, Patrizia and myself.

A Few Gatherings

Not much has been going on lately but there have been a few get togethers. Dani, who I worked with, returned to europe last week. Before she left we had a dinner and some drinks at Yuriko's. (not sure why the photo is so yellowy.....)

Then Tim and I once again celebrated our birthdays at the lowenbrau. We went first to dinner and then off for a few steins and some sing alongs. This is Tim, Lee and I, all of their Movember moustaches were cracking me up!

And... not the best picture of Owen... but that's our one from the night!

Sturt Wood Fire Weekend

This past weekend we were lucky to go to Sturt, an art school south of Sydney. We were involved in a wood fire, raku and saga fire with visiting artist Bede Clarke (who teaches at Mizzou, small world!). The first two pictures are of Sturt outside.

And then a not so lovely photo of us at the caravan park that we camped at.
This is the kiln where we did the wood fire. Both chambers were packed and then the doors closed in. We started the fire at 6 pm Friday night and finished adding wood around midnight on Saturday. It's all closed up and will sit until Thursday when they will open up the doors. As the fire got hotter and the night darker the flames looked fabulous.
This last photo is a bit fuzzy but is of Owen and I with some of his classmates and Bede.

And I've Graduated!

Well I have finally 'officially' finished my masters of art admin course. This weekend was the graduation and celebration weekend. Here we are before the ceremony began (Josie and I).
After the thankfully short ceremony we went outside and took a few pictures with Josie, Owen and his parents.
Then it was off to a pub crawl.
And finally.... no this has nothing to do with graduation, but we uber cleaned the apt last week and while it was clean i took a few pictures. But they don't really provide much information so I thought I would just attach a view of the wall in our lounge room.

Day Off!

So it has been absolutely beautiful here the last few days. Today Owen and I went to Shelly Beach, a cove near well known Manly Beach. This first picture is taken from Shelly Beach of Manly.

Today also happened to be the day of the lunar eclipse. Sadly with no tripod the photo is a bit fuzzy, but that reddish spot is not a random light but the moon. Not as crazy as I was expecting but still good.

Owen's Birthday Cake

This would be my lovely decorating capabilities. I had a little difficulty this year and ended up being creative and making Owen a monkey Birthday Cake.

Emma's Bday

I was going to wait as this week is Owen's Birthday and just put all the pics in one post, but why not make it two? This is Emma, Gina and I at the Rose Hotel pub. We all went to uni together. I'm not a very exciting writer about these things..... it's probably best for me to stay away from rambling stories that somewhat have to do with the pics!

Quick look at the new haircut

Here is a picture of my new haircut. A girl from the cafe was back visiting from Japan so we went out to eat dinner at a really good Czech restaurant. This is a picture of Yui, Kyoko and myself.

Birthday and a bit of Travel

A group of us from the cafe celebrated Kyoko's Birthday. We went over to Yuriko's place. She no kidding made about five entrees and three main dishes for five of us to eat!!! Too much but it was all good. Here is picture of Kyoko, myself and Dani.
On the couch is Anthea, Kyoko, Yuriko, Dani and Me.

This past weekend Owen and I went down to Canberra to visit his mates. I decided (because I always think about doing it...) that I should take a few pictures of the countryside, from a rest stop of course.

Finally, Part III

Okay- so the end of February my friend Sarah came back to Australia for a visit with her friend Kaitlin and we climbed the Harbour Bridge which was really good and not quite as scary as I thought it might be. Don't you just love the outfits?? Just as a directional, the Opera House and city are on the right side of this photo. Behind my outstretched hand is Cremorne Point where Owen's parents live and Owen and I live a bit above and towards or past the left side of the photo.

Over Easter holiday weekend Owen and I went up to the Blue Mountains with Giles and Caite to see them at a rock climbing festival, hence me buying a pair of climbing shoes and now Owen and I go about once a week (indoors of course as I'm too scared to do the outdoorsy stuff!!).
Josie and her housemates had a fabulous St. Patrick's Day party. Here we are, sadly the good picture doesn't show all of the green decorations everywhere.
Owen's cousin David had a fancy dress 21st Birthday Bash. This is a picture of Owen and I with his cousin Carin and her boyfriend Brad.

Part II

So I should have done this backwards so it will fully be in chronological order but this will just have to do. Will start with a few pictures from our trip to the States last xmas. Our trip included visits to St. Louis, Oklahoma, Dallas, San Antonio, Chicago and of course the lovely LAX airport.
This is my mom and I ice skating in Oklahoma City. It was a really nice night out and lots of fun especially as there was only one fall between the three of us!
While in San Antonio Owen and I went to the Buckaneers Saloon and Museum (something like that). They pretty much have every animal you can think of taxidermied and a wild west museum area as well as the saloon area.
Off to Chicago, here is a picture of Liane and I from New Years, which it was absolutely freezing that night and I realized how I really was thankful that it was unseasonably warm during our visit.
This is Owen and I outside of the first Bure we stayed in. It had a beautiful view of the ocean which was to our left.
These are two Aussie girls, Michelle and Tanya, who were on the same tour as us so we hung out on all of the islands.
This final picture is the view from the summit of Kuata. We went on an early morning hike and it took us about 30 min. to get to this point. Beautiful though and nice to be doing some exercise after a month of holiday!!!

Well Here Goes...

Ha ha... am attempting to start a blog after some requests for me to do so. And I've just cleared out what I had, good start hey? Well seeing as how we haven't taken any pictures in ages I'll do a little backlog of what's been going on. We'll start off in Port Douglas snorkeling at the Great Barrier Reef.

Later that Fall Owen and I made a trip to the Blue Mountains with an English friend from camp while she was visiting Sydney. The Blue Mountains are so nice and it's only an 1.5hr drive.

One beautiful day last winter we went on a walk from the Spit to Manly, which is Middle Harbour walking North. Can't remember exactly where we were at this point but I think we are looking at North Head.

Come November we celebrated my birthday as well as Tim's birthday at the Lowenbrau, a wonderful Belgium pub that serves litre sized beers!!! Trouble...... This is a picture of my uni friend Josie and I.

Owen and I also went to Taronga Zoo for my birthday and this koala looks about how we were all feeling after the night at the Lowenbrau.
Ok will continue on with our holiday trip to the US last xmas up until nowish next time!
